Environment Agency

The Regional Assembly holds an annual dialogue meeting with representatives from the Environment Agency. The meeting provides the opportunity to discuss issues of common interest. It contributes to the Regional Assembly's accountability role and helps maintain active contact between the Regional Assembly and other regional bodies. Meetings, which started in 2002, allow members to discuss a range of issues with the Environment Agency, including water, waste and flooding.

Environment Agency Dialogue 7 December 2007

As part of our engagement with regional agencies, the sixth annual dialogue meeting with the Environment Agency was held on 7 December 2007.

The meeting took place at Red Kite House, the Environment Agency's West Area offices in Wallingford. The focus of the day was the Water Framework Directive and its implications for the South East. Discussion centred on three key issues:

  • The Water Framework Directive and River Basin Planning
  • The role of the River Basin Liaison Panels and the development of River Basin Management Plans
  • Changes to the Environment Agency-Southern region.

Following the meeting members were given a tour of Red Kite House to see the building's environmental features.
