Health Summit 2007

Back to Other Meetings page

The Health Summit encourages engagement between regional organisations and the NHS in the region. The meeting allows for strategic discussion of issues that impact on the health of the South East and will provide leadership for more effective delivery of health policy.

These meetings are held three times a year, providing plenty of opportunity to monitor the progress of regional policy. Previously, the health summit met once a year with a more limited membership.

28 September 2007

The Health Summit met on the 28 September. Partners from a range of regional organistions, including senior representatives from a range of organisations from the Assembly, SEEDA, GOSE, the Strategic Health Authorities and RAISE met to consider strategic issues:

  • Members received a presentation from the Strategic Health Authorities explaining how the NHS financial regime works.

  • A presentation was given explaining the role of NHS Foundation Trusts and the timetable for their implementation in the South East

  • The Summit considered progress on the Regional Health Strategy. The intention is to launch the final Regional Health Strategy in February 2008. Members also considered the potential role of green infrastructure in developing good physical and mental health.
