Pilot Board
|
The South East's Regional Transport Board (RTB) transferred to the Assembly from GOSE on 1 September 2005 with the first Assembly-chaired RTB in October 2005. The board's role is to advise on prioritisation of regional transport schemes and to input into the Assembly’s advice to Government on regional funding allocations. South East England was one of two regions in the country to be asked to pilot a Regional Transport Board (RTB) from July 2004. The Board included representatives from the Assembly, alongside representatives from the business, environmental and voluntary sectors. A further five members were drawn from the Government Office for the South East (GOSE), Highways Agency, Strategic Rail Authority, SEEDA and the bus industry. The Pilot Board comprised: Andy Roberts, GOSE, Chair (Details of the current Board members are available here.) Advisors to the Board: Paul Bevan, Chief Executive South East England Regional Assembly The Board carried out a number of studies to assess how well regional transport strategies integrate with regional spatial, economic and housing strategies. It also explored the likely impact of establishing Regional Transport Boards on the strategies, the approach to prioritisation and delivery at the regional and local level. The experimental RTB was time-limited. The evaluation report was produced in October 2004 and is available with its annexes below.
