Planning Committees
RoleThe role of the Assembly’s Regional Planning Committee is to advise the Executive Committee and/or the Assembly as a whole on matters relating to the Assembly’s role as Regional Planning Body for the South East. MembershipThe Planning Committee has 25 members who are appointed at the Assembly’s annual meeting. Its Chair and vice-chair are elected at its first meeting following the annual meeting. Committee membership reflects the balance on the Assembly between local government and social, environmental and economic partners. There are 16 local authority members, one from town and parish councils, four from the social/environmental partners and four from the economic partners. Up to ten members of the Regional Planning Committee can be non-Assembly members. Instead they can be nominated, according to their knowledge and experience, from the Assembly’s constituent organisations or networks.
