Councillor Nick Skellett CBE is Leader of Surrey County Council and Chairman of the Regional Transport Board. Until 2006 he was Chairman of the South East England Regional Assembly and before that he was Chairman of the Assembly's Planning Committee.

He was first elected in 1993 and has been Leader of Surrey since 1997. He was a member of the Audit Commission from 2000 to 2003 and Chairman of the County Councils Network from 2002 to 2005 and has served on the LGA Executive for many years. He is a director of 4Ps (Public Private Partnerships Programme).

Nick is a governor of Oxted County School, a trustee of the Surrey Community Foundation and a Board Member of the Surrey Economic Partnership.
