South East Plan

The South East Plan (the regional spatial strategy) is the Regional Assembly's vision for the future of South East England to 2026, outlining how to respond to the opportunities and challenges we face, such as housing, the economy, transport and protecting the environment.

Our aim is to ensure sustainable development in the South East region so it remains economically successful and an attractive place to live for future generations. Find out More.

Regional Planning

Advocacy

In April 2001, the Regional Assembly became the regional planning body for South East England. In 2004, this was made a statutory role under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. Find out More.

The Regional Assembly has an important role to play as the 'voice of the region'. There is no other body in the South East region that speaks out on behalf of the interests and concerns of our councils and communities. Find out More.

Regional Housing

Alignment

Everyone deserves to live in a decent home that they can afford, whether they own or rent the property. Find out More.

The Assembly works to co-ordinate regional priorities across organisations in South East England. Find out More.

Regional Transport

Accountability

The Regional Assembly has a key role in advising Government on significant transport issues in South East England. Find out More.

The Regional Development Agencies Act gave the Assembly the role of scrutinising SEEDA to make sure that economic development and regeneration work reflects the South East region's priorities. Find out More.

Monitoring Success

We report on the performance of the region, through annual monitoring reports that assess our success in meeting targets. These targets include quality of life, housing, the economy and the environment. Find out More.

Sustainability

The Regional Assembly works with our regional partners to ensure sustainable development, the aim of which is to enable everyone to satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life, without compromising it for future generations.

Achieving our aims will require commitment and contributions from everyone - Government, businesses and individuals. Find out More.
