News Release : 08 February 2001NEW PLANNING BODY MEETS TO DECIDE ADVICE TO GOVERNMENT ON REGENERATION AND TRANSPORT IN THE SOUTH EAST The South East's new planning body will decide what advice should be given to Government about a range of regeneration and transport schemes in the region, when its members meet in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday The South East England Regional Assembly's plenary meeting at Aylesbury Civic Centre will debate and vote on recommendations from three key studies in the region:
The votes of the Assembly's 111 members from all of the region's local authorities, as well as economic, social and environmental bodies, will decide advice to Government on the schemes. Assembly Chair Councillor David Shakespeare of Buckinghamshire County Council said: "This is an important meeting during which the Assembly's members will have an opportunity to have their say on transport and regeneration proposals for specific parts of the region on behalf of the bodies they represent." Also on the agenda at Wednesday's meeting is a report on Sustainable Development in the South East, followed by the launch of an action plan for 'Biodiversity in South East England'.
