Buy-To-Let Homes Improving Quality and Reducing Rents (6 September 2007)
BUY-TO-LET HOMES IMPROVING QUALITY AND REDUCING RENTSBuy-to-let investors are improving quality and reducing rents for tenants in the South East - giving many people an affordable alternative to home ownership. The secondment is jointly funded with the East of England Regional Assembly. Richard Walker is a transport planner with 16 years' experience and a former Chair of the Transport Planning Society. He has previously worked in both the private and public sectors at Colin Buchanan, Greater London Authority, Strategic Rail Authority and latterly the DfT's Rail Group. Assembly Chief Executive Paul Bevan said: "Developing quality, reliable public transport routes between major centres could help us cut congestion by offering a viable alternative to car journeys. Richard will play a key role in building partnerships with local authorities and transport providers across the South East and East regions to test the viability of the idea."
