Tourism and Economy - Research Study
Research study into the impact of offshoring on the South East EconomyThe Assembly and SEEDA commissioned Experian Business Strategies to carry out research into the impact of a loss of businesses to other countries (offshoring) on the South East Economy. The research investigated the scale and impact of a loss of businesses on the region's economy as a whole and its sub-regions and under different scenarios. Economic modelling allowed Experian to analyse both the direct and indirect effects of offshoring. The results show that in all scenarios there is still considerable growth in economic activity to 2026 but that the amount of new employment generated is reduced by between 19 and 30% depending on the scenario considered.
