A34 North from Southampton Scoping Study

A report setting out the possible options for addressing transport solutions for the A34 corridor was published on 14 April 2004. Consultant FaberMaunsell undertook a review of the key issues affecting the transport corridor between Southampton and junctions 9-10 of the M40 and reassessed the case for further study. The final report is available below.

The Regional Assembly subsequently sought the views of stakeholders on the issues identified and options set out in the consultant’s report (between March and May 2004).

Following consideration by the Regional Planning Committee, the Regional Assembly made its recommendations to the Government on 10 August 2004. The Regional Assembly's letter can be viewed here.

The scoping study was jointly commissioned by the Government Office for the South East and the South East England Regional Assembly and was carried out between 23 December 2003 and 14 April 2004.
