Waste Capacity: Survey, Methodology and Monitoring (June 2007)

A new survey of waste capacity in the region, together with forecasts of future needs, has recently been completed for the Assembly by ERM. It sets out estimates of different types of waste management and disposal capacity and compares these to current and forecast future needs, based on the waste policies in the South East Plan and RPG9.

The model used to develop these forecasts has been provided to each Waste Planning Autority and it is intended that it is updated and used to monitor delivery of new capacity against needs. The project was funded by DEFRA's Regional Support Fund in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
