Sustainability Appraisal - Scoping Report

This report sets out the scope of the Sustainability Appraisal

The Scoping Report will be kept under review throughout the appraisal process to ensure that the appraisal itself is as comprehensive as the available data permits at this level.

The Report is structured as follows:

Section 1 introduces the Scoping Report and its contents.

Section 2 summarises the purpose of the South East Plan, and outlines the broad options which are being explored in the development of the Plan.

Section 3 presents an introduction to Sustainability Appraisal, including how Strategic Environmental Assessment has been integrated into the process, and how this appraisal is being carried out.

Section 4 presents summary information on issues explored in developing the appraisal scope, including the review of plans and strategies, data on baseline condition, and key sustainability issues facing the region.

Section 5 sets out the Appraisal Framework that will be used to understand the sustainability implications of the plan.

Section 6 presents a simple summary of future work, including proposals for the structure of the final Sustainability Appraisal Report.
