Environmental infrastructure

The Environment Agency has prepared a "Strategy for Environmental Infrastructure in the South East". The study identifies and estimates the cost of investment required to meet the needs of the existing population and of new development proposed in the draft South East Plan for the following:

  • Water resources, eg new reservoirs
  • Water quality, eg new sewage works and pipelines
  • Flood risk management, eg new flood defences
  • Waste eg new recycling plants, incinerators and landfills
  • Biodiversity eg management and creation of wildlife habitats.

The Regional Assembly contributed to the study and was on its steering group.
