The Sustainable Futures Group (SFG) is an independent body that champions the delivery of sustainable development within the South East region. The SFG is responsible for:
Members of SFG are selected for their technical expertise and include representatives from GOSE, SEEDA and the Regional Assembly, as well as stakeholders including environmental and voluntary groups, the health and business sector and a local authority representative. The group is chaired by Ian Christie, a high profile independent researcher, consultant and lecturer on sustainable development. The SFG has committed to using information within the Regional Sustainability Framework to identify a set of sustainable development priorities which can be more easily communicated to the South East region.
SFG Masterclass - Helping you Deliver NI 185 & 186 - 11 December 08On 11 December the Sustainable Futures Group South East (The Region's Champion Body for Sustainable Development) held a masterclass on strategic leadership on sustainability at a local level. Jonathon Porritt said the "masterclass has been a great way of sharing ideas and enabling progress. Success is clearly about buy-in at the top. I heard many encouraging and positive examples, but each Local Authority across the South East needs to stick its neck out and be a leader, or we all lose out as global citizens."
