What We Do

The Regional Assembly's responsibilities can be summed up as three Rs and three As:

Regional Planning

Creating and updating the South East plan, a framework for the sustainable development of the region for 2006 - 2026; ensuring local plans match the regional planning framework; and assessing regionally significant planning applications. Find out More.

Regional Housing

The Assembly chairs and runs the South East England Regional Housing Board, which recently updated the Regional Housing Strategy for 2008 -11 setting out the South East's housing investment priorities. Find out More.

Regional Transport

The South East England Regional Transport Board is chaired and run by the Assembly to advise Government on transport investment priorities for the region. Find out More.

Advocacy

Acting as the South East's voice by pressing the region's interests in London and Brussels. We also press for policy changes from national Government and the EU that support the South East's priorities. Find out More.

Alignment

We work to co-ordinate regional priorities across a wide range of organisations in the South East to maximise the impact of public sector investment in the region. Find out More.

Accountability

We scrutinise SEEDA, the regional development agency, on its performance in delivering regional economic development in the South East that meets the region's needs and priorities. Find out More.
