The Regional Assembly's responsibilities can be summed up as three Rs and three As: Regional PlanningCreating and updating the South East plan, a framework for the sustainable development of the region for 2006 - 2026; ensuring local plans match the regional planning framework; and assessing regionally significant planning applications. Regional HousingThe Assembly chairs and runs the South East England Regional Housing Board, which recently updated the Regional Housing Strategy for 2008 -11 setting out the South East's housing investment priorities.
